In January of every year, Encore stages a children’s show to celebrate school holidays.

Our children’s shows are family friendly and have big casts, fabulous costumes, much-loved popular characters, and are loads of fun!

You might even see some familiar faces there, as many of our actors are regulars and appear in every children’s show.

Our audience members come along every year with children, parents and grandparents loving the shows.
With tickets only $10, our children’s show is affordable for the whole family, and a great way to enjoy a special day out with the kids.

George’s Marvellous Medicine

7 JAN – 16 JAN 2021

Written by  /  Roald Dahl
Adapted by /  David Wood
Directed by /  David Collins

Life is already hectic for George, but it gets even worse when her appalling Grandma comes to stay. Fed up of her rudeness, she mixes her a ‘new and improved’ medicine – but the consequences are much more than she bargained for. After seeing the medicine in action, George’s father decides to try it on the animals next – with hilarious and calamitous results!

“…pure, unadulterated fun that shakes the inner child from its stupor… truly for the young and the young-at-heart, a perfect tonic for the maladies of the modern age.” – Scenestr

Covid-19 Guidelines

To ensure your safety when you attend, please follow any requests from our Front-of-House volunteers, and note the following:

Please do not attend if – within two weeks of the show – you

  • have any Covid-19 or flu-like symptoms;
  • are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test (regardless of symptoms);
  • have been in close contact with someone either with Covid-19 or flu-like symptoms or awaiting the result of their own Covid-19 test (regardless of symptoms).

For contact tracing purposes, all adults will need to check-in using the QR code on display outside the theatre.

There can be a bottleneck as you enter or exit the theatrette. Masks are required if you are unable to maintain a 1.5m distance from others, however, you may remove your mask once seated.

You will not be able to select a specific seat when you make a booking. Seats will be allocated to you when you arrive to ensure each booking group is safely spaced apart from the others.

Unlike previous years, there will be no lollipops handed out at the end of a performance. Also, the cast regrets that they will not be able to come out after each performance to thank you as you leave or pose for photos.

It’s important that when you leave the theatrette you try not to linger near the entrance and make your way up the ramp to exit the building.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@encoretheatre.com.au with any questions.
