Our Shows for 2006!
March Season: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
A Trivial Comedy for Serious People
A masterpiece of brilliant comedy. It revolves wittily
around the most ingenious case of 'manufactured'
mistaken identity ever put into a play. The chief
plot element is that of the invention of a mythical
character by a young man who wishes to put off
on someone else his own shortcomings.
Jack Worthing is Ernest in town. He wins
Gwendolyn's hand, but Gwendolyn declares that
she chiefly loves him for his name - Ernest - the
name Jack has allotted his non-existant brother
whose peccadilloes explain his frequent absences
from his country home where lives his pretty ward,
Cecily. Meanwhile, Cecily has decided to marry
rake-hell Ernest and when Algernon presents
himself in this guise, she immediately accepts his
smitten proposal. However through some highly
improbable coincidences, all is happily resolved.

Please come to support our theatre group!

July Season: Set the Traps by Chris Hodson
The Harvey family play games with each other.
Not the fun games that children play but
mind games that only adults know how to
play so well.
But one Saturday night things change and
only Colin knows why. Why is he acting so
strange? Why does he suddenly view his
dysfunctional family in a new light?
Something has happened that will change
the family forever.
Set in a small country town in Victoria, this
black comedy is a witty, albeit confronting,
portrayal of family relationships.
This play by local playwright Chris Hodson,
will strike a chord with many families.

August World Premiere: Shakespeare In Saigon
by Cenarth Fox, directed by Doug Bennett.
Performance Date: August 18, 19, 25 & 26 at 8.15 pm, and Aug 20 at 2.15 pm.
November Season: Still Mad About the Boy by Noel Coward
The words and music of Noel Coward, including his
celebrated comedy, Fumed Oak.
Following the success of our 2003 tribute to Noel
Coward (Mad About The Boy) Encore Theatre is
delighted to present a follow-up show featuring
many of the famous songs, together with selections
from the maestro's wittiest dialogue.
'The Stately Homes Of England', 'London Pride',
'A Room With A View', 'Mrs Worthington' and much
much more!
Fumed Oak is a very funny comedy about a 'worm
who turns' featuring some of Coward's most pithy
and witty dialogue. A Song At Twilight is Coward
in a more mellow mood and probably reveals
more of his own personal feelings than any of his
other plays.
So join us for a visit to the world of Noel Coward
through songs, dance and his inimitable dialogue.
